Red Sox Ellsbury Named AL Player of the Week
BOSTON (CBS) – For the third week in a row, a member of the Boston Red Sox has been named American League Player of the Week.
Jacoby Ellsbury took home the honors this week for the first time in his career. The speedy outfielder hit .467 with three doubles, a home run, four RBI and two stolen bases in six games. He led the league with 14 hits and 10 runs scored the past week.
The Red Sox went 6-0 last week, and are currently riding a nine-game win streak.

Ellsbury currently leads the American League with 24 steals and is second with 84 hits and 21 doubles on the season.

David Ortiz was named the AL Player of the Week last week, with Carl Crawford winning the award the week before.
