Red Sox Announce "Futures At Fenway"
BOSTON (CBS) - For the sixth year in a row, the minor leagues will have their day at Fenway Park.
The Red Sox announced the 2011 "Futures At Fenway" doubleheader will take place on Saturday, August 20th. The Red Sox Double-A affiliate the Portland Sea Dogs will face off against the Bighamton Mets at 1:05 p.m. The second game will feature the Triple-A affiliate Pawtucket Red Sox against the Syracuse Chiefs. The Chiefs are affiliated with the Washington Nationals.
The family friendly event will feature reduced ticket and concession prices along with kid-friendly activities throughout the afternoon. Tickets will range from $5.00 for bleacher seats to $30.00 for Green Monster and Dugout seats, among others.
Kids attending the games will be selected radomly throughout the day to participate in events such as mascot races and other on-field activities, and will have the chance to get autographs from the players in the Big Concourse.
A lot can change between now and August, but a few prospects that could play for the PawSox include shortstop Jose Iglesias (rated the Sox top prospect), pitcher Anthony Ranaudo, and catcher Ryan Lavarnway.
