Red Sox Add Lovullo, Lamont To Manager Search List
BOSTON (CBS) - The Red Sox have added two names to their growing list of managerial candidates.
The Red Sox are expected to interview Cleveland Indians bench coach Sandy Alomar Jr. on Wednesday.
Then on Friday, the Red Sox will interview Blue Jays first base coach Torey Lovullo, who previously managed AAA-Pawtucket before joining John Farrell in Toronto after the 2010 season.
On Saturday, the Red Sox will speak with Tigers third base coach Gene Lamont, who has managed for eight seasons at the major league level with the White Sox in the 80's and the Pirates in the late 90's. He served as Jimy Williams' third base coach with the Red Sox in 2001.
The Red Sox have already interviewed Brewers hitting coach Dale Svuem and Phillies bench coach Pete Mackanin. They had been interested in Rangers pitching coach Mike Maddux, but he withdrew his name from consideration, citing family reasons.
The next manager, whoever he is, has some big shoes to fill. Terry Francona managed the Red Sox for the previous eight seasons and won two World Series crowns.
