Recent Yale Graduate From Wayland Killed In Cape Cod Crash
DENNIS (CBS) - The woman killed in a crash over the weekend on Cape Cod has been identified as a recent Yale graduate from Wayland.
Marina Keegan, 22, was killed in the crash on Route 6 in Dennis on Saturday afternoon. Her 22-year-old boyfriend, who was driving, was seriously injured.
Five days before her death, Keegan graduated magna cum laude from Yale University, where she served as president of the Yale College Democrats and also starred in several college plays.
Described by many as a talented writer, Keegan had planned on moving to Brooklyn, New York to become an assistant to the general counsel at The New Yorker, according to the Yale Daily News, who published several of her articles the last couple years.
In her final column, which was distributed last week during Yale's commencement and later published the day after her death on Sunday, Keegan wrote about her time at Yale.
"What we have to remember is that we can still do anything. We can change our minds. We can start over. Get a post-bac or try writing for the first time. The notion that it's too late to do anything is comical. It's hilarious. We're graduating college. We're so young. We can't, we MUST not lose this sense of possibility because in the end, it's all we have," wrote Keegan.
