Recchi Moves Up On Points List, Will Retire If Bruins Win Cup
BOSTON (CBS/AP) - Mark Recchi has 576 goals, 956 assists and one more objective before he retires.
"I'm hoping we get on a long run, it'll be real easy for me," Recchi said after moving into 12th place on the NHL's career scoring list. "If we win a championship, I'm gone."

Recchi had an assist in the Bruins 3-0 win over the Blackhawks Tuesday night to give him 1,532 career points -- one more than Paul Coffey. Bruins great Ray Bourque is next at 1,579. Everyone ahead of Recchi who's been retired long enough to be eligible is in the Hall of Fame.
"It's unbelievable if you think about it. It's big names that he's passing," Bruins forward Patrice Bergeron said. "It's an
unbelievable amount of points."
"They're fun, obviously right now these guys get more excited than I do," Recchi said of his accomplishments. "But at the end of my career, I'll look back and ill be proud of what I did and how long I played. Hopefully my kids will be proud of it."

Recchi, who was drafted 67th overall in 1988, was not sure if he would even make it to the NHL. When he did, he only saw himself playing for 10-years, so his place in NHL history is a very special one.
"I wasn't even supposed to make it, never mind do this stuff," the 21-year veteran said. "I was a 19-year-old draft pick and small back then. They drafted monsters back then no matter what, so I had to work hard to get there and I had some people who believed in me when I first started in the league and it really helped."
