Randy Moss To Vikings? Patriots Working On A Deal
BOSTON - WBZ-TV - Patriots superstar may be on his way out of town.
The New England Patriots are working on a trade to send wide receiver Randy Moss back to the Minnesota Vikings, WBZ's Steve Burton has learned.
It's still not clear yet what the Patriots would get in return, but sources tell Burton it's likely a third round pick from the Vikings.
If that's true, ESPN's Adam Shefter Tweeted an interesting point Wednesday:
Wow: Pats will have double picks in rounds 1, 2, 3, 4 of 2011 draft. Their picks plus Oakland's 1, Carolina's 2, Minnesota's 3, Denver's 4.
Shefter also noted that Moss and the Vikings have not discussed a new contract and that he would head to Minnesota without one.
Moss is 33-years old and he is in the final year of a four-year deal with the Patriots.
He wants a contract extension and his agent is bound and determined to get him one, because if there is a lockout next season, Moss fears he won't get paid.
WBZ's Walt Perkins talks about the deal:
The story was first reported by Jay Glazer of Fox Sports.
If this trade does go down, Moss will return to Gillette Stadium with the Vikings on Halloween to face the Patriots.
Moss was a first-round draft pick of the Vikings in 1998 and spent his first seven seasons in the NFL with Minnesota.
He was traded to Oakland in 2005, where he languished for two years before being revitalized in New England. The Pats acquired him in 2007 for a fourth-round pick.
