Randy Moss: 'I'm The Greatest Receiver To Ever Do It'
BOSTON (CBS) - On Media Day, everyone gets their turn to say pretty much whatever they want.
So no one should be surprised that something Randy Moss said is causing a little bit of stir.
"Now that I'm older, I do think I'm the greatest receiver to ever do it," the 49ers receiver told reporters at Super Bowl XLVII media day in New Orleans.
Moss will play in his second Super Bowl on Sunday as the 49ers get set to take on the Baltimore Ravens. And it's hard to argue against Moss as one of the games best receiver given his 982 catches, 15,292 yards and 156 touchdowns over his 14-year career. He also owns the single-season record of 23 touchdowns set back in 2007 while with the Patriots.
But numbers don't mean much to Moss. At least that's what he said Tuesday.
"I don't really live on numbers, I really live on impact and what you're able to do out on the field," the 35-year-old said. "I really think I'm the greatest receiver to ever play this game."
It's a good thing he doesn't live by the numbers, because Jerry Rice thumps him in all of them. Rice, over his 21-year career, wracked up 1,549 receptions, 22,895 yards and 197 touchdowns -- all of which sit atop the NFL record books.
Rice also has three Super Bowls to his name, while Moss is still looking for his first.
