Rain out Tuesday, Sox and Mariners try for 2 on Wednesday
Rain washed out the Red Sox game with Seattle on Tuesday night so the two clubs will try to work around Mother Nature on Wednesday to play a split doubleheader. The plan calls for the Sox and Mariners to play the first game at 1:35 Wednesday afternoon and play the nightcap at 7:10. However, the forecast is calling for rain off and on throughout the day and evening. Both the Red Sox and Mariners have Thursday off and could, conceivably, make up 1 or 2 games. However the Red Sox would prefer to keep Thursday as a travel day before an important series with Tampa Bay down in Florida.
For now, Josh Beckett is set to start the afternoon game while Jon Lester is scheduled for the night contest.
