Rain Is Eyeing New England
We are going to squeeze out another dry day. High level cloud cover has already worked its way into Southern New England. Clouds will continue to thicken throughout the lower levels as well as the day transitions into evening. Onshore, south-southeast winds will keep the South Coast on the cooler side today. The end result will be inland locales topping off in the lower to middle 70s while Cape Cod/Islands will be in the 65-70F temperature range.
Rain will hold off until late Tuesday night, mainly after midnight.
The cold front will be slow to make its trek offshore. So, Wednesday will be a cloudy, cool, and dreary day. The morning will be the wettest part of the day, but the clouds will also be rather stubborn and hang tough for the day. However, there will be a chance for brighter skies for areas north and west of Boston during the evening hours. Rainfall amounts may reach 1-1.5" for areas outside of 495 while Eastern and Southeastern Massachusetts are forecast to receive .25-.5" on average. High temps will be cooler-than-average in the middle 60s to near 70F.
Thursday is going include a sun/cloud mix. An upper level ridge will be building, but models are also hinting at a weak area of low pressure just offshore keeping the moisture trapped near the coast. However, the area of low pressure may not retrograde as much as the current model runs are portraying. If it stays farther offshore, it will be a brighter day overall. If it does 'back-in' like some of the models are depicting, then Coastal Mass. would hang onto a mostly cloudy sky while the interior locales would see more sunshine. High temps will be near 70F...cooler at the coast due to a north-northeast wind.
Friday will be mostly sunny to partly cloudy with highs returning to the middle 70s inland...cooler along the coast.
The weekend is still looking sunny and mild with highs in the middle 70s to near 80F (cooler for the coast).
