Quincy Mother Pleads Not Guilty To Son's Murder
QUINCY (AP) -- A Massachusetts woman has pleaded not guilty to charges that she drugged her 8-year-old son and killed him as she also tried trying to commit suicide by lighting a hibachi grill inside a bedroom in their apartment.
Li Rong Zhang entered the plea through an interpreter when she made her first formal court appearance Tuesday. A Norfolk County Superior Court judge ordered the 39-year-old woman to remain in custody until her Aug. 18 pretrial hearing.

Li was arrested in January, a day after her 16-year-old son found her and another son, Brandon Young, unconscious in their home in Quincy, south of Boston.
Firefighters who broke through a barricaded door into a second-floor room found the younger boy lying on the bed and his mother on the floor.
Li has undergone a psychiatric evaluation. Her attorney declined to comment.
