Quincy Couple Indicted On Charges They Used Clothes Dryer To Kill Cat
QUINCY (CBS) - A Quincy couple has been indicted on larceny and animal cruelty charges for allegedly using a clothes dryer to kill a house cat.
Lori E. Tasney, 36, and Christopher M. Lang, 32, both pleaded not guilty to larceny and animal cruelty indictments on Friday in Norfolk Superior Court.
Investigators say the couple were staying as guests at a home back in May when residents found the indoor house cat dead in the yard. A large amount of cat hair was later discovered in the dryer lint trap.
"The Animal Rescue League of Boston performed a necropsy on the cat and found multiple traumatic in thermal injuries, consistent with being tumbled to death in a dryer," a news release from the Norfolk County District Attorney's office reported.
Tasney and Lang were the only people at the home when the cat was killed, according to court documents. Prosecutors noted that hours earlier, a resident had questioned them about several hundred dollars in cash missing from her purse.
Both are due in court again on January 29, 2014 for pre-trial conference.
