Project 351 Students To Honor Martin Luther King Jr. Through Community Service
BOSTON (CBS) -- Massachusetts students will be providing community service in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. as part of Project 351.
The project sends sixth-grade students into a year of service.
"I love helping my community," says Bourne student Analise Rogers. "Community service is a big part, and I love helping."
Their mission is to serve their community, promote kindness and celebrate King's legacy.
First graders from Orchard Gardens in Roxbury showed their version of King's "I Have a Dream" speech.
Of King, Oak Bluffs student Lauren Pagliccia says "I think he's pretty inspirational and a role model. He really changed the world for the better."
John Hancock sponsors the project.
"This is a tremendous opportunity to harness the leadership capacity of our young people," says Jim Gallagher of John Hancock.
