Probation For Teens Involved In Seekonk High Student's Death
SEEKONK (CBS) - Two Seekonk High School students have pleaded guilty to their roles in a prank that ended with the death of a friend, according to a report by the Sun Chronicle.
Eighteen-year-olds Nathan Dias and Jason McInerney reportedly admitted in Taunton District Court to throwing tree branches onto Interstate 195 back in December of 2010.
Police say their friend, Jacob Mayo, was standing on the highway at the time and was struck and killed by a passing car that had just run over some of the debris.
The two received a year of probation and 40 hours of community service.
Eighteen-year-old Michael Poland, who was also involved, pleaded guilty back in November to throwing objects onto a highway. He was serving 90 days in jail.
The driver, Katelynn Johnson faces charges for leaving the scene of an accident. Prosecutors say those charges will likely be dismissed.
