Prices Drop $0.40 In Middleboro Gas Station Wars
MIDDLEBORO (CBS) - A nearly week-long price war between two Middleboro gas stations seems to have come to an end with both sides and plenty of customers all claiming victory.
Last Thursday, Super Petroleum dropped its price from $3.69 to $3.59 for a gallon.
Across the intersection, A.L. Prime owner Joe Sayah noticed the sign and responded.
"I thought it was a mistake. I gave him a couple hours. Obviously that's what he wanted. So we matched him," said Sayah. "The next day he had 10 cents in the morning, 10 cents noon time, 10 cents in the evening; we also stayed with him no matter what."
This weekend, gas prices bottomed out at $3.29.

The Super Petroleum manager says it wasn't meant to be a price war. The 40 cent drop was a promotional strategy to draw more customers.
"It was all about the sales of the gallons we wanted to reach in this certain location," he said.
Both gas stations say they saw a boost in sales over the weekend. Customers were just glad about the price drop.
