Baker, Governors Meet With President Biden On Vaccination Progress
BOSTON (CBS) - Gov. Charlie Baker was part of a bipartisan group of governors to meet with President Joe Biden Tuesday afternoon to talk about their COVID-19 vaccination programs.
The president had a virtual call with Baker, Maine's Janet Mills, Ohio's Mike DeWine, Utah's Spencer Cox, Minnesota's Tim Walz and New Mexico's Michelle Lujan Grisham about what's worked in each state.
As of Monday, more than 2.9 million people in Massachusetts have been fully vaccinated. Baker has set a goal of 4.1 million by early June.
Baker explained the state's "mixed model account" with mass vaccination sites and regional collaboratives to Biden.
"For all of us, one of our great opportunities and our great challenges to get over whether its hesitancy or equity or more confidence, is the more people see this happening among their friends and their family members and co-workers, the more likely they are to sign up and say 'you know what, I'm willing to play,'" he said to Biden.
Baker also said having accessible walk-up vaccinations will help the state continue to reach people.
"We're going to work really hard to make sure we get everybody who wants a vaccine, vaccinated by the fourth of July."
Biden said Baker was "doing a hell of a job."
