Powerball $1 Million Winning Tickets Sold In Haverhill, Seekonk
BOSTON (CBS) - There was one winner of the Powerball $699.8 million jackpot prize - a ticket sold in California - but there were two smaller winners in Massachusetts.
The Massachusetts State Lottery said Tuesday those two $1 million tickets were sold in Seekonk and Haverhill.
Seekonk resident Raymond Carey claimed his $1 million prize Tuesday. He bought his ticket at Quality Gas & Mart on Taunton Ave.
The second winning $1 million ticket was sold at the Bradford Mobil Mart on South Main Street. It has not been claimed yet. Both gas stations will get $10,000 each for selling the tickets.
There were three other $1 million-winning tickets sold across the nation in Virginia, Florida and Arizona.
To win a $1 million prize in Powerball, the first five winning numbers on a ticket must match the first five numbers in the drawing. To win the overall jackpot, a ticket must have all five winning numbers plus the Powerball number.
Powerball tickets are $2 each. It is played in 45 states plus Washington, D.C., the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.
Drawings are held every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. in Tallahassee, Florida.
