Power Outage Thwarts Attempted Robbery In Hampton, NH
HAMPTON, N.H. (AP) — Police in Hampton, N.H., say a man who attempted to rob a gas station during a power outage ran away when he learned the safe couldn't be opened.
A wind storm had knocked out power to the Xtra Mart Mobil station on Thursday and it was closed for business.
Police said a lone clerk was confronted about 8:10 p.m. by the man, who said he had a gun.
He demanded that the clerk open the safe. But upon learning the safe couldn't be opened due to the outage, he fled without taking any money.
Police are looking for him.
