Poll: Majority In Massachusetts Like Casinos, Just Not In Their Towns
BOSTON (CBS) - A new poll is telling us what most have already begun to suspect. Many people in Massachusetts say they like the idea of casinos here, just not in their towns.
In 2011, state law was adopted that would give Massachusetts up to three resort casinos and one slots parlor.

If a community wanted to host one, it would have to get voter approval through a referendum.
That's turned out to be tougher than anticipated and this new poll backs that up.
The Western New England University Polling Institute found that three out of five adults in Massachusetts say they're in favor of having casinos in the state, but a majority – 55 percent – also say they do not want one in their community.
Voters in Palmer, West Springfield and East Boston have all rejected casino proposals, although there will be a recount in Palmer.
Voters take up the issue in Milford Tuesday.
On the flip slide, communities like Everett, Revere and Springfield have said they would like casinos.
The statewide poll of 517 adults was conducted November 5th through the 11th.
