Polish Woman Arrested At Logan After Becoming Unruly During Flight
BOSTON (CBS) -Paulina Franoszek said very little in East Boston District Court on Friday.
The 32-year-old resident of Poland has been charged with assault and battery and interference with a flight crew.
Prosecutors say Franoszek was American Airlines flight 66 from JFK Airport to Barcelona, Spain when she became unruly and began kicking the passenger's chair ahead of her.
"When she turned around asking for the defendant to stop, that's when the defendant poured a cup of water over her head and pushed the cup in her face. The flight attendants approached her and she spit at them," the prosecutor said in court.
That's when the captain of the plane diverted the flight back to Logan, where Franoszek was arrested.
Her court appointed attorney says Franoszek is from Poland and is the mother of two children. She has no criminal history but suffers from exhaustion after traveling for hours without any sleep and having marital problems.
"She had just learned her husband had been cheating on her and is emotional distraught state when she got on these series of flights," defense attorney Tom McCarthy said.
She was released on $500 dollars cash bail and left district court Friday without saying a word.
She is due back in court on July 26, for a pretrial hearing.
