Police: 'Well-Dressed' Wellesley Bank Robber Arrested After Quincy Standoff
QUINCY (CBS) – A suspected bank robber arraigned Friday in Dedham District Court following a tense, nine-hour standoff that came to an end late Thursday night.
Armed with assault rifles, police officers and SWAT team members surrounded the home of Brian Kalil on Connell Street on Thursday afternoon after investigators identified him as the well-dressed man who robbed the TD Bank North branch in Wellesley last Saturday.
The suspect in that robbery was wearing a pea coat, Burberry scarf and scully cap.
When police arrived on Thursday to arrest Kalil, he refused to leave his home and barricaded himself in the attic.
"Additionally, they had information that he may be in possession of a firearm," Wellesley Police Lt. Marie Cleary said.
Police eventually stormed the home with the assistance of a K9 unit and found him hiding inside.
"It was a lengthy search within the residence for Brian Kalil, but a successful search with a successful resolution," Cleary said.
