Police: State Trooper Under Investigation Kills Self
DEVENS (CBS/AP) — A Massachusetts State trooper who was the subject of a criminal investigation has been found dead in an apparent suicide at a hotel in Devens.
The trooper, Greg Jasinksas, was 40-years-old and had been with the department since June 2005. He was a Marine and National Guardsman who served in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Police say an investigation started Sunday into an alleged criminal act that occurred early that morning while the trooper was on duty. His gun and other equipment were confiscated and he was relieved of duty.
Police say that on Monday the trooper made statements to two other people indicating he intended to harm himself.
Those people contacted state police and the trooper's body was subsequently discovered in the hotel room.
