Police Seek Suspect In Cambridge Shooting
CAMBRIDGE (CBS) -- Police are looking for a suspect in a shooting that left one person hurt in Cambridge on Friday.
A Cambridge police officer working a detail in the Putnam Avenue area around 1:46 p.m. was called over to a car where the officer found a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper right leg. The officer applied first aid and stopped the bleeding, police say in a citywide alert.
The victim, who hasn't been identified, was taken by ambulance to a local hospital. His condition is unknown.
A witness told police the victim and the suspect got into an argument and then a wrestling match at the rear section of a parking lot at a Putnam Avenue home. The suspect broke free before allegedly firing a shot that hit the victim.
The suspect then sped away toward River Street.
A good Samaritan picked up the victim and the witness and was going to take them to the hospital until the officer was spotted nearby, police say.
Police are calling it a "targeted incident," saying there is no threat to the public.
The suspect is described as a light-skinned male, wearing a black sweater, jeans and white sneakers.
