Police Seek Suspect In Wayland Home Invasion

WAYLAND (CBS) - Wayland residents are on alert following a report of a home invasion Sunday night.

Police say a man burst through an unlocked kitchen door of a home on West Plain Street and grabbed a 23-year-old woman before running away.

"Fortunately she was able to fight the person off and he fled the scene," police chief Robert Irving told WBZ-TV. "When he left his shirt had actually been ripped of and he would have run from the scene wearing just shorts."

Police are looking for a man that was seen on a police dashcam walking down the street shortly before receiving a home invasion call. Police have called him a person of interest.

Authorities said a canine unit picked up a trail headed toward Natick, but the scent was lost.

The victim described the suspect as a white man, about 5 feet 9 inches, which a husky build and short blond hair. She says he had a blank stare and did not speak during the incident. Police said the victim was not sexually assaulted.
