Girl Assaulted At Knifepoint In Framingham
FRAMINGHAM (CBS) - Police in Framingham are searching for a suspect who allegedly assaulted a teenage girl as she walked home from school.
The 15-year-old girl told police the attack happened on Gorman Road at 2:50 pm, just minutes after she got off her school bus and began walking home. She said a 17-18 year old male held her at knifepoint and attacked her.
Framingham Police and State Police spent hours searching a wooded area right near Gorman Road. K9 units and a helicopter were brought in to to hunt the suspect.
Meanwhile detectives went door to door in the neighborhood looking for witnesses. Still, they found no trace of the suspect.
Neighbors were on edge Wednesday night knowing the violent attacker was on the run.
"There's young kids right across the street, there's kids in this neighborhood, to know that somebody is around is pretty scary," said Mary Beth Carneiro.
She and her husband Carlos have a 12-year-old daughter of their own who is a friend of the victim. They said they would be more alert and urge their children to be careful knowing no arrests have been made.
Many residents said they see the teenage victim walk home from school daily. They felt horrible about her ordeal.
"I feel bad for her and what she's going to have to deal with for the rest of her life," Carneiro said.
Police would not release any information about the victim's condition Wednesday night nor give details of the assault. They say the suspect is a 17 or 18-year-old light skinned black male with short hair. He was wearing a long sleeved black shirt, jeans and muddy sneakers.
