Police Visit West Roxbury Home Of Man Arrested Outside John Kerry's House
WEST ROXBURY (CBS) – Investigators visited a West Roxbury home on Saturday belonging to a man arrested earlier this week after taking photos in front of Secretary of State John Kerry's Beacon Hill home.
Vladimir Romanov, 29, of Chestnut Hill and West Roxbury is currently jailed following the incident outside Kerry's home that landed him behind bars on a public drinking misdemeanor charge.
Several plainclothes officers driving unmarked police cars were at the apartment Saturday morning. It was unclear why they were there, and the District Attorney's office issued a statement saying it could not comment on any possible investigation.
"We wouldn't discuss a search warrant - or other investigative technique - in the absence of charges," the statement said. "In Romanov's case, he's currently charged with drinking in public. Should additional charges arise, they will be arraigned in the court with jurisdiction over the alleged offense."
Romanov was arrested last Sunday after State Department security officers noticed him acting suspiciously, parked in a no-parking zone and taking photographs of Kerry's house.
According to the prosecutor, Romanov told police he was taking the photos for a friend who was in jail, claiming he wanted to show him bars in the Boston area.
Officers recovered a pellet gun, three cell phones, a TomTom Navigation system, a black canvas bag containing seven carbon dioxide cartridges and an open container of brandy from Romanov's car.

Despite only facing a misdemeanor drinking charge, Romanov will remain in jail until a hearing on September 25 after a judge revoked his bail over two other pending cases – an OUI charge in Waltham and an assault charge in Quincy.
Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis said earlier this week that police and diplomatic security are taking "a close look" at Romanov.
