Missing Children Found Safe In Worcester

WORCESTER (CBS) – Two children who did not show up to school Wednesday morning in Worcester were found safe after a daylong search.

The children, 10-year-old Bella Donna Bailey, and eight-year-old Landon Allen were found around 7:30p.m.

Police had been searching house to house for them with the help of State Police.

WBZ-TV's Karen Anderson reports

Police responded to the Vernon Hill School at 11:30 a.m. after the students were reported missing. Bella's mother says her daughter was last seen leaving home to go to school.

The two children were seen at approximately 9:00 a.m. by a neighbor who witnessed them trying to enter a shed. The youths were scared away by the neighbor. The two were also spotted on surveillance video at the Price Chopper Food Market located on Sunderland Road at approximately 11:00 AM.

The two children were found at the intersection of Emery and Arcadia Streets. Two women found them standing in a driveway.

Doreen O'Neill and Shana Palermo set out to help when they heard the pair was missing all day.

"They told me their names and I said, oh my God it's them," says Shana Palermo. "The little boy looked up at me and cried and said 'I just want to go home.'"

The children are in good condition, and were taken to UMass Medical Center for a routine evaluation.
