Police Search For Missing Swampscott Mother

SWAMPSCOTT (CBS) -- Police are searching for a 25-year-old Swampscott mother who has been missing for days.

The family of Jamiee Mendez says she was last seen on Thursday. They say she made two phone calls to friends that day, saying she was with a man with Lynn and wanted to leave.

"She said, 'listen I'm on this street I'm with this guy, he's making me really nervous, I want to get out of here,'" sister Alyssa Mendez told WBZ-TV's Jim Smith. "[Her friend] went to go pick up her up, she never showed, and her phone was off. That's the last anyone ever heard of her."

Then this weekend, the family says Jaimee Mendez's jacket, cellphone, phone charger and ID were found in an industrial area next to some woods. Later, they said they made another disturbing discovery in a dumpster at a CVS in Lynn: Jaimee Mendez's sneakers, some men's clothing and part of a rug.

Alyssa Mendez said the rug matches one in a van belonging to the man her sister was last with. She says police questioned that man, and she did too.

"He had scratches on his face, he had scratches on his hands," Alyssa Mendez said. "It just didn't make sense, his story."

The Essex County District Attorney's office confirmed that Jaimee Mendez is missing, but said they couldn't comment any further on the ongoing investigation.

Jaimee Mendez has a 5-year-old autistic son. Alyssa Mendez said she would never leave him alone for this long.

She also said Jaimee Mendez has diabetes and left her medication at home.

"It's like a race against the clock," Alyssa Mendez said.
