Children Taken From Braintree Foster Home Found Safe In Conn.

BRAINTREE (CBS) – Two children who police say were kidnapped from a Braintree foster home by their father have been found safe in South Windsor, Connecticut.

State Police issued an Amber Alert after Jon T. Lockwood forcibly removed 8-year-old My Tri "Patrick" Nguyen and 10-year-old Tien Nhu My "Sarah" Nguyen from the Braintree home.

The foster mother says she engaged in a "tug of war" with Lockwood for custody of Patrick.

Late Monday night, the two kids were located at a 7-11 and the father was taken into custody.  A trucker on Route 84 saw the suspect's car exit the highway in South Windsor and called Connecticut State Police. Troopers took Lockwood into custody without incident.

Patrick and Sarah were safe and unharmed.

Braintree Police are working with Connecticut troopers to coordinate the return of the children.

Police say Lockwood was allowed to have supervised visitation and met with the children and the Department of Children and Families earlier in the day.
