Driver Jumps On Hood To Stop Carjacker In Boston Before 3 Parked Cars Hit
BOSTON (CBS) -- Police are searching for a man who they say tried to steal a car Monday evening in Boston and instead hit three parked cars.
The victim told police his Volkswagen Passat was parked outside an apartment building on Massachusetts Avenue around 7:45 p.m. As he was walking into the building, a man jumped in the car and drove off.
Surveillance video shows the victim then jump onto the hood of his car as the driver speeds away making a sharp left turn down St. Botolph St. Moments later, video shows the driver slam into parked vehicles with the victim still on the hood of the car.
"I heard what sounded like screeching tires and like someone hit the side of the building," witness Eric Buckley said. "It was really loud. A big bang."
The victim was taken to a hospital.
"I immediately looked just in time to see a guy literally flying like in the air, smack right on the pavement," said Buckley.
Police say the suspect took off running down an alley, and is still on the loose but the victim was able to give police a description.
Three other cars were also damaged in the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
