Police Release Sketch Of Suspect In Newton Assault
BOSTON (CBS) ---- State Police are asking the public's help to find a man who allegedly picked a woman up in an unregulated taxi and raped her.
Police say a woman hailed a cab and got into a black Lincoln livery sedan around 1:30 a.m. August 6, in the Seaport District.
The vehicle had an app running on a tablet or smartphone that was mounted to the dashboard and displayed a map and fare tally.
Police say the driver of the vehicle did not go to the victim's intended address and instead drove to a secluded area in front of a skating rink off Nonantum Road in Newton where he raped and assaulted the victim.
The driver is described as a Hispanic or Indian/Middle Eastern male in his late 20's to early 30's, 6-feet tall, approximately 230 to 240 pounds, with a muscular build, dark complexion, buzz cut black hair, with neatly cropped facial hair. He was wearing a polo-style collared shirt and jeans and either a dark-colored do-rag or hat.
The incident was first reported to the Cambridge Police department.
Once it was determined by Cambridge, Boston and Newton police that the assault took place on state property, it was reported to state police.
State Police say based on information that has developed through the course of the ongoing investigation authorities have a detailed description of the suspect and are seeking the public's help in identifying this suspect.
