Man Killed In Police Officer-Involved Shooting In Revere Identified
REVERE (CBS) – A Lynn man was shot and killed by Everett Police early Sunday morning in Revere. Massachusetts State Police say the shooting took place after a chase that began in Everett.
The shooting happened on Washington Ave. in Revere early Sunday morning near the intersection of Sargent Street.
Oscar Ventura-Gonzalez, 32, of Lynn, died following the incident.
The Suffolk County District Attorney's office will handle the investigation.
"My wife started screaming," said John Avery. is still shaken up. He lives on Washington Ave. and his wife heard gunfire.
"She heard bang bang. Then all of a sudden she heard real loud right in front of our house. She's like, 'John there's somebody shooting in front of the house.' I ran down the street and I ran down the thing like 'stay away from the windows, get on the floor' and I looked out the window and that's when they were resuscitating him," Avery said.
According to I-Team sources, Everett Police tried to make a traffic stop in their town but it turned into a pursuit. Ventura-Gonzalez allegedly shot at an officer and the officer returned fire.
Sources also said the officer involved in the shooting has been with the department for about two years.
