Police Officer Involved In Deadly N.H. Shooting

CONCORD, N.H. (CBS) – A police officer was involved in a deadly shooting in Concord Wednesday night.

According to the New Hampshire attorney generals office, a person was killed in a shooting at an apartment building on Garvins Falls Road around 8:15 p.m.

Investigators say no other information will be released until an autopsy is done.

Neighbors told WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Mark Katic Thursday that police came to the apartment complex around 5 p.m. Wednesday and asked everyone to leave. Officials will not say what initially brought police to the building.

One resident did not and told Katic when he entered a hallway he saw several police officers standing near the man who had been shot and was lying on the floor.

Thursday yellow tape still blocked the apartment's doorway.

Neighbors described him as quiet, but that he recently had been off his medication and had become more violent.

"Beginning of the week he came to the door, began to tell us they took him off his meds and if he couldn't get his meds not to be surprised if he was in the hospital at the end of the week," said John Mcnair, who lives in the unit next door.

WBZ-TV's Peg Rusconi reports.

The man's name has not been released.

"This all took place right outside of my door," said Mcnair. He said he heard noises through the wall for hours, then a series of bangs.

"I thought someone was breaking through my door and when I heard three large-- bang bang bang—then afterwards realized there were gunshots because obviously the man was dead on the ground."

"We could hear yelling but don't know what was said between officers and him," said Barbara Jeski.

Residents were not allowed back into their homes until after 10 p.m.
