Police: N.H. Jewelry Store's Door Unlocked Before $1 Million Robbery
PORTSMOUTH, N.H. (AP) -- New details are emerging in a $1 million jewelry heist at a Portsmouth jewelry store.
The robbery at Bellman Jewelers was discovered Tuesday morning, but police say the jewelry could have been stolen any time over the weekend.
According to police reports reviewed by the Portsmouth Herald, the employee who discovered the missing jewelry told police that the store's front door was unlocked and the alarm system was not activated when she arrived at work just before 10 a.m.
Police previously said they hope that surveillance cameras inside the store and elsewhere provided evidence.
