Police: Man Claims He Preemptively Stole Package From JP Porch
BOSTON (CBS) - Boston Police were able to foil a potential Grinch on Christmas Eve.

Police are accusing Ernest Polite of Boston of stealing a newly-delivered package off a porch in Jamaica Plain.
Witnesses told police they saw the suspect get into a car, drive a short distance, and then get out of the car and go behind a house.
Officers kept an eye on the car for a couple of hours. Then, when the suspect went back to the car, police said Polite admitted to stealing the package because he was afraid someone else might try to steal it.
The package was then returned to its rightful owner.
