Police Investigating Suspicious Death Of Woman In Mattapan
BOSTON (CBS) - Police are investigating what they call a suspicious death at a Mattapan apartment complex.
A teenage girl came home to Fairlawn Apartments to find her mother dead, and one-year-old brother alive. Police say the baby had been by his mother's body for hours. Police tell WBZ the woman is approximately 34-years-old.
"It's really quiet her," says neighbor Wyndel Arthur. "That's unusual…unbelievable."

"These places are locked," says Lawanda Gilbert, who lives in the building next door. "If no one knows you, and you don't have a lot of people aware of you, they're not going to find you. This place isn't open. It's sealed pretty tight. It's a tough situation."
Just as neighbors told reporters how quiet it was, shots rang out from another part of the very same apartment complex. Police investigating the woman's death had to rush to the unrelated shooting scene to find a man with gunshot wounds in his stomach.
It's not the first time the neighborhood has dealt with violence. Two years ago, a man and woman were found dead in the same building in a murder-suicide.
