The D.A. said Thursday that the alleged leader of the organization, 23-year-old Dat Tran was arrested along with six other people.
Local and State Police were able to identify the suspects with the help of the U.S. Postal Service and several wiretaps.
Officials said all seven people who were arrested are members of a dangerous gang in Malden. Acting Police Chief Douglas Perrigo blames the Maplewood Gang for a majority of violence in that city.
The alleged trafficking operation shipped more than 400 pounds of marijuana worth more than $1 million between California and Massachusetts over the past several months, according to officials.
Tran was held on $100,000 cash bail.
