Police: 'Graphic, Violent' Twitter Threats Made Against Arlington Family
ARLINGTON (CBS) – Police are investigating a series of "graphic" and "violent" threats allegedly made on Twitter against an Arlington family.
Arlington Police Chief Frederick Ryan said the department opened an investigation Friday night into a number of threats made on the social media site.
Police did not release the names of the family members or person suspected in making the threats.
Ryan said the "graphic, violent threats" will be investigated by officers using the department's advanced computer forensics software and equipment.
As a part of the investigation, police will work with federal authorities and Twitter, Inc.
"We actively pursue those who threaten the safety or security of our residents," Ryan said.
"We will use all tools and assets at our disposal to identify those responsible and bring them to justice."
