Police: College Students Arrested With Marijuana, $117,000 Cash In Brookline
BROOKLINE (CBS) - Police arrested three people who were found with approximately 15 pounds of marijuana and $117,000 cash in a Brookline apartment.
Veteran officers say it's one of the biggest drug busts Brookline has ever seen. The marijuana, which is described by officers as "high grade," was vacuum sealed.
Authorities in California tipped off Brookline officers who were waiting for the shipment to arrive at the Freemont Street apartment building.
The suspects are 24-year-old Jesse Pomponio, a Boston University student, 23-year-old Alexander Zhang, a student at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy, and 24-year-old Trevor Powell.
Police say the latest shipment contained about six pounds of marijuana and the rest was found in the apartment after they got a search warrant.
