Police, Chelmsford High Investigate Football Hazing Allegations
CHELMSFORD (CBS) - A hazing incident involving members of the Chelmsford High School football team is being investigated by the school and authorities in New Hampshire. The incident allegedly took place at the end of August in Moultonborough, New Hampshire.
Members of the Chelmsford football team attended a facility called Camp Robindel for four days, for what was supposed to be practice and bonding.
"We are aware that allegations were made regarding potential misconduct by student athletes," Chelmsford Superintendent Dr. Frank Tiano said in a statement Monday night. "The school has investigated these allegations and has taken action. Due to the fact that the allegations involve students, we are not at liberty to discuss the specifics of those allegations or the results of the investigation. At Chelmsford Public Schools, we have always and will continue to take seriously the safety of each and every student under our care."
Details of the alleged hazing incident were not released because everyone involved is a juvenile.
The Chelmsford Police Department is assisting in the investigation.
