Police Cadet, Teen Girl Die In Springfield Crashes
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) — A Springfield Police Department cadet has been identified as the victim of a fatal Thanksgiving morning crash in the city.
Investigators say a car driven by 23-year-old Max Moran went out of control, struck a fire hydrant and went airborne, ejecting Moran at about 4 a.m. Thursday. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Moran had been a cadet about a year. His dad, Sgt. Ricky Moran, is a 30-year veteran.
Moran's death came about 5 hours after a 17-year-old high school student died in a separate crash in the city.
Police say 17-year-old Allison Dwarska was a passenger in a car that crashed at about 11 p.m. Wednesday.
Relatives tell The Republican she was a senior at Sabis Charter School where she was a cheerleader, softball player and yearbook editor.
