Mayor-Elect Marty Walsh, Cardinal Seán Patrick O'Malley and Sen. Ed Markey were at Pine Street to greet guests and serve meals.
"The message of Christ is that we should bless the poor, bless the sick, bless those who are hungry," Markey said.
In addition to those having holiday meals at Pine Street's headquarters in the South End and other shelter locations, the more than 800 tenants of Pine Street's permanent housing program will celebrate the holiday in 36 housing locations throughout Boston and Brookline.
Pine Street's Outreach team will deliver holiday meals to men and women on the streets.
