PROVINCETOWN (CBS/AP) -- State police say one person has been killed and a second seriously injured in a late night plane crash in Provincetown.
Pilot Stanley J. Wisniewski, 48, was killed in the crash. His passenger, 47-year-old Tamar Levy, was airlifted to a Boston hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Authorities said the small plane went down about 200 yards into the woods south of the runway at the west end of Municipal Airport in Provincetown shortly after taking off at about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday.
WBZ-TV's Alana Gomez reports.
The pilot of a U.S. Coast Guard helicopter in the area at the time witnessed the crash, and landed at the airfield to assist in rescue efforts.
Authorities with the FAA and NTSB are investigating.
