Pierce Misses Christmas Game Against Knicks
BOSTON (CBS) - All Paul Pierce wanted for Christmas was to be able to play against the Knicks on December 25.
But, he wasn't able to.
Asked whether he was playing Sunday, Pierce told reporters before the game:
"Am I playing in today's game? No."
The Celtics captain is still recovering from a heel injury.
"I feel day-to-day. Everyone understands how competitive I am. If there was a chance I could play I'd be out there," said Pierce.
Sasha Pavolovic started in Pierce's place. Doc Rivers said Marquis Daniels may see extended minutes if Pierce is out long-term with the injury.
The Celtics lost 106-104.
Pierce's status for Tuesday's game against the Heat is not known.
