Pickup Truck Strikes Empty Airplane At Logan
BOSTON (AP) — No injuries were reported when a pickup truck struck an empty jet at Boston's Logan International Airport.
A spokeswoman for the airport says the truck made contact with the Southwest jet at about 4 a.m. Monday.
The jet was empty and parked at a gate.
The spokeswoman could not say why the pickup was on the tarmac, but Southwest said the truck belonged to another carrier. The jet was taken out of service.
As a result, Southwest Flight 771 to Atlanta with 119 customers was delayed about 2 ½ hours.
The airport spokeswoman says the incident remains under investigation and no one has been cited. It was too early to say whether snow and ice on the ground played a factor.
