Pickup Truck Slams Into Methuen Convenience Store
METHUEN (CBS) - A pickup truck slammed into the front doors of a convenience store in Methuen on Wednesday.
Just before 9 p.m., the truck hit the Methuen White Eagle Pantry just as three men were waiting in line at the front of the store.
One of the customers, a 26-year-old Methuen man, was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police said it was just an accident.
WBZ-TV's Kate Merrill reports.
"I think it's a scary thing and we just hope that these things happen less frequently," said Lt. Jim Jajuga, Jr. of the Methuen Police Department.
The 43-year-old man behind the wheel suffered an undisclosed medical condition and lost control as he was pulling into a parking spot out front.
"When it comes to medical conditions and things like that, if it's beyond a person's control, then there's not much to do. Just be aware. Anything can happen anytime," said Lt. Jajuga, Jr.
Authorities are investigating. At this point, the driver has not been charged.
The store re-opened on Thursday.
