Pickup Truck Wedged Under Tractor-Trailer On Route 9, Driver Survives
NEWTON (CBS) – A driver survived a horrifying crash on Route 9 in Newton Monday morning as his pickup truck ended up wedged underneath a tractor-trailer.

The accident happened just before 7 a.m. in the westbound lanes outside the Chestnut Hill Mall.
Police told WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Carl Stevens the driver of the 2004 Chevrolet Silverado hit some black ice and could not stop in time to avoid hitting the tractor-trailer which was crossing Route 9 at the time of the accident.
Several firefighters were called in to help free him from the pickup with the Jaws of Life.
Newton Deputy Fire Chief Gino Lucchetti told Stevens the pickup driver was talking to them during the entire rescue operation.
"It's unbelievable,"Lucchetti said, "I've seen plenty of these, but this guy was basically tucked under his dashboard."
"He actually was able to assist us with what we needed to cut, where we needed to cut."
State Police said the driver, Jacob Griswold, 24, of Roslindale, was taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center with serious injuries.
The tractor-trailer driver, Jarrod Morin, 34, of Barre, was not hurt.
The pickup truck was towed away around 9 a.m.
No other details are available at this point in the investigation.
