Phantom Gourmet: Top 2011 Restaurants

BOSTON (CBS) - Over the past year, The Phantom Gourmet visited hundreds of restaurants.

Now, Dan Andelman is counting down the best reviews of 2011.

Jasmine Bistro in Brighton is a quirky eatery that feels less like a restaurant than a dining room in someone's home. The specialty is Hungarian home cooking, with stop-offs in France and the middle east.

Out of a possible 100 points, Jasmine received a total score of 80.

Foundry on Elm in Somerville is a bustling neighborhood eatery with a French brasserie vibe.

Every item on the menu is an appealing reinterpretation of classic comfort foods, like flatiron steak with a decadent knob of herbed butter.

Tastings Wine Bar and Bistro in Foxboro is a cozy, stylish enoteca with views over Gillette Stadium.

Phantom enjoyed the fried calamari tossed with kalamata olives, and the oversized sea scallops pan-seared with braised greens, and smoky slab bacon.

Angela's Cafe in Eastie is nondescript hole-in-the-wall that just happens to serve some of the most authentic Mexican cuisine in greater Boston.

The scrumptious tacos al pastor and chorizo-spiked queso fundido helped Angela's achieve a score of 85.

Next week, Phantom Gourmet reveals its top four highest restaurant reviews of 2011.

For more food and fun, watch the Phantom Gourmet Saturday and Sunday at 10:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. on TV38.
