Phantom Gourmet: New England Turkey Specialists
BOSTON (CBS) -- Dan Andelman traveled to some spots across New England that specialize in turkey and all the trimmings.
This is a meal you'll want to gobble right up. At the Roundabout Diner in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, fresh turkey breast is smoked on site and smothered in a rich homemade gravy.
"We'll slice it, we'll finish it on the griddle. Serve it with our housemade stuffing, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, and white gravy. So again it is like having thanksgiving because it is a very large portion."
Victor's Deli in Somerville is a neighborhood institution known for hearty, homestyle cooking - like meatloaf, stuffed peppers and thick-cut, hand-carved turkey dinners.
"You're eating home cooked food. It's like eating food that you cooked it yourself."
At The Jetty in Marshfield, the popular turkey and zucchini burger features a combination of Israeli, Greek and Lebanese flavors, all stuffed inside a brioche bun.
"I think some of those Middle Eastern flavors that are there definitely beef that up a bit. A lot of turkey meat in that."
Phantom's favorite spot for turkey dinner might be Hart's Turkey Farm in Meredith, New Hampshire, which has over five hundred seats. And they will all be filled on Thanksgiving Day.
