Phantom Gourmet: Irish Cuisine With A Twist
BOSTON (CBS) - Dan Andelman of the Phantom Gourmet went on the hunt for Irish cuisine with a twist.
With locations in Mansfield, Sagamore and Cedarville, Flynn's serves Irish favorites like fish and chips and Bailey's cheesecake, along with indulgent Killarney-style fries. Killarney Fries are sweet potato wedges smothered in corned beef and Swiss cheese with gravy on top.
BluAqua in Amherst, New Hampshire serves a modern twist on creole cuisine and Irish classics like their deconstructed shepherd's pie with short ribs, corn and edamame succotash, and creamy potato puree.
Along with a well-poured pint, The Briar Rose in Hyde Park offers malt-grilled salmon, big steaks and buffalo chicken nachos with a bleu cheese drizzle.
Around here, corned beef and cabbage is traditionally served on St Patrick's Day, but the truth is, that's not a dish you find very often in Ireland.
