Phantom Gourmet: Chez Vachon In Manchester, NH

MANCHESTER, New Hampshire (CBS) -- The portions are huge, and the prices are tiny.

"We give you a gigantic portion at a price that everyone can afford," says Robert Perkins, owner of Chez Vachon in Manchester, New Hampshire.

Hidden away in a residential neighborhood, Chez Vachon is a destination for hungry folks looking for plate tipping piles of classic American comfort food--think meatloaf, macaroni and cheese, and omeletes--and authentic French Canadian favorites, like pork pies, crepes, and smoked meats.

Robert, better known as 'Be,' runs this no-frills breakfast and lunch spot along with his wife Jessica. And despite the fancy French name, a meal at Chez Vachon is about as casual as you can get.

"Our food may not be trendy, but it's definitely comfort food, it's definitely food you're gonna come back for," says Robert.

For breakfast, there are oversized Omelets stuffed with meats and cheese, big benes smothered in hollandaise, and giant crepes that hang over the plate.

"Our crepes are huge," says Jessica. "It's funny, we'll bring them out to the table and people will be like, 'What is that? What did I order?'"

Lunch brings even more enormously delicious eats, like a ruben sandwich with corned beef, sauerkraut, and Swiss, burgers topped with almost anything you can imagine, and the classic French Canadian poutine--or as they say at Chez Vachon, "putsin"

"Putsin, like, you puts it in your mouth," says Jessica.

And best of all, no matter what food you decide to put in your mouth, you won't have to reach too deep into your pocket.

"It's just the way we are, we want to feed everyone," Jessica says.
